Michael Straughan - Director

Michael's career in the automotive industry spans over 30 years. He started as the first non-car industry engineer to join Nissan Sunderland in the late 80's. He rose through the ranks to run the Painting and then Final Assembly processes. On leaving Nissan, Michael was appointed Production Director at Volvo Cars Uddevalla. A return to the UK with Jaguar Cars saw him responsible for the launch of the second generation Land Rover Freelander in Halewood. Following a stint in commercial vehicles with LDV, he returned to Liverpool to run the Halewood Plant as it competed to secure the Range Rover Evoque.

Michael's move into luxury manufacturing began with his appointment to the Board of Bentley Motors running all Manufacturing related areas. After 5 years at Bentley, Michael joined Sunseeker International, the luxury yacht manufacturer as Chief Operating Officer.

Michael's current role is Chief Operating Officer at Aston Martin Lagonda during arguably the most exciting time in AML's history as it embarks on new mid-engine sports car programmes and an electrified future. Michael has recently joined the Welsh Automotive Forum.

Michael is a resident of Poole in Dorset but retains his strong Northern roots being a long suffering Newcastle United supporter.
