The former Fast Growth 50 winner has seen its annual income rise by more than 41% compared to 2013-14, to achieve its most successful and largest volume growth since its inception in 2007.

This year, Smart Solutions has invested in establishing two new divisions, organically increased its geographical footprint by launching new offices in Chester, Leicester and Norwich, made its first multi-million pound acquisition and has put a record number of more than 5,000 people into work each week.

Its training division has also doubled its workforce this year, taking it to 40 members of staff, and saw its turnover increase by 14% to reach £2.1 million. Smart Solutions Training is now the largest supplier of qualifications to the waste sector in the UK, but also delivers training to businesses in the automotive, food, manufacturing and financial and professional services sectors.

Mr Bowles said: "This year, we have taken a major step forward in establishing ourselves as one of the market leaders in outsourced services as seen by the increase in our workforce and the expansion of the sectors we're now working in. There has been strong growth in our mature industrial and waste recycling sectors but, more encouragingly, we are seeing rapid growth in our new target sectors of automotive, commercial, building services, facilities management and logistics.

"This has been supported by the completion of a long-term project to develop an innovative software solution, which we feel is a game-changer for our sector. Our new integrated resource management tool, Worksite, has seen investment of more than £500,000 into the development of this unique IT system.

"Worksite controls the management, monitoring, verification, control, supply and planning of labour to our clients. This enables us to produce up-to-the-minute financial data, production data as well as compliance and training reports. This system has been a hugely successful resource to both our existing and new clients, particularly in major infrastructure projects where we can now deliver a complete master vendor solution."

During the 2014-15 financial year, Smart Solutions also completed its first multi-million pound acquisition, buying the Leeds and Leicester-based specialist recruitment business, Right Direction UK (RDUK).

The 2015-16 year has started at a fast pace for Smart Solutions, with Mr Bowles confirming that September was a record breaking month for the business. Smart Solutions employed 18 new members of staff in the month and has more than 20 permanent vacancies in its 51 locations throughout England and Wales.

This year, Smart Solutions was placed at number 15 on the Recruiter FAST 50, a list of the fastest-growing private staffing companies in the UK, and featured on the London Stock Exchange's 1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain.  It also ranked number 25 on Investec's list of fastest-growing private firms in the UK, one of only two in Wales, and has entered into the Ernst & Young international award.
