Bosch threatens to lock-out Indian workers over pay row
Bosch, the German car parts supplier, is facing escalating industrial unrest in India, leading it to declare a lock-out at one of its factories this week.
The company has shut out 700 workers at its Naganathapura plant outside Bangalore, which makes spark plugs, as tensions soared in a long-running pay dispute.
The company said workers at the plant “resorted to physical intimidation” of managers and damaged sensitive machinery.
The company said that the 2,000 workers at its other Bangalore factory, which makes fuel-injection systems, have been on a go-slow for several weeks, hitting production. It warned it could also declare a lock-out there, if the dispute is not resolved.
